Minutes
- Overall project, releases, etc.
- Next builds, releases
- 6.0.4 PTP Juno release was tentatively planned for this month, but it's so close to RC builds for Juno SR2 we will just wait for Juno SR2 which is released on Feb 28
- Juno SR2 RC1+2 is 1/15; RC2+2 1/29; RC3+2 2/5; RC4+2 2/12
- Testing is important! SR2 is the last parallel package update for Juno.
- see Juno Planning page
- 7.0.0 Kepler
- see Kepler Planning page
- Note win32 is still supported in Kepler
- M4+3 was Dec 19 - parallel package was bad: mixed parts of Juno and Kepler (If you want to test, use parallel package from http://eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php and update from latest build at http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ptp/builds/kepler/nightly/
- M5+3 is Feb 6 - next Kepler milestone
- 6.0.4 PTP Juno release was tentatively planned for this month, but it's so close to RC builds for Juno SR2 we will just wait for Juno SR2 which is released on Feb 28
- clean up downloads space - size increased from 8G to 10G; currently using 9G.
- Download stats (see below)
- 203,187 total Juno Parallel package to 1/8
- Next builds, releases
- Status Reports
- Bug status/triage - still need to schedule
- CDT remote include fix https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=396651 needs to get into the CDT build.
- ETFw, other tool integrations
- Status of new JAXB implementation for ETFw (Chris Navarro)
- Two bugs created with code/patches https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=397684 and https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=397685; can flip to older implementation with drop-down selection. Brian and Wyatt will try it out.
- Status of new JAXB implementation for ETFw (Chris Navarro)
- PTP Core/debug
- RDT, Synchronized Project, Remote status
- John Eblen - working on new progress monitor, git efficiency (via 1.7), wizard changes. Wizard changes include specification of git location: Beth asked John to consider a more ui-compact way to specify alternate location of git - (currently takes up a good portion of the dialog which is already crowded). Brian suggested an "Advanced" button to setup other non-default info on another dialog. We also talked about ideas for including it in preferences, and should be be global, per-project or per-connection? Roland remarked that anyone who noticed performance complaints previously should test the new implementation and report if it helps. Must have git 1.7
- Target System Configurations (previously known as Resource Managers)
- several new TSCs added from Juelich. Beth is planning to provide some filtering of the growing number of TSCs to make selection easier. Perhaps a selection for this too to store default filter. Also import/export would be useful.
- DaveW is looking at a ResMgr for LSF. For Kepler and maybe Juno SR2 too if it can be done in time. Jay thinks NCAR Yellowstone runs LSF. Dave has a small LSF cluster for testing. Inclusion in Juno SR2 would allow us to get some user feedback before Kepler.
- Testing - Brian played around with Jubula over the holidays. Promising. Beth is interested in helping get some PTP testing automated or semi-automated and can help.
- Docs, Help, N&N
- New updates have been added to org.eclipse.ptp.doc.user/html/rms (and link put in table at 03pRunConfig.html)
- Other PTP contributions
- Bug status/triage - still need to schedule
- Education and Outreach
- Monthly PTP User call - last one was Wed Nov 28 - see PTP User Meetings - Ideas solicited for next one Jan. 23
- Tutorials, BOFs, other outreach opportunities
- XSEDE (July 2013 San Diego) https://www.xsede.org/web/xsede13/call-for-participation - tutorial proposals due March 8
- SC13 (Nov 17-22 Denver) http://sc13.supercomputing.org/content/tutorials - tutorial proposals due March 25
- Ideas for any different focus for upcoming tutorials this year?
- Jay is giving a talk this week at Austin AMS weather modeling meeting. Using PTP on weather modeling codes. Will post link to paper/talk.
- Another tutorial opportunity at SW Engineering Assembly at UCAR. Emphasis on performance Tools. April. Jay and Wyatt are discussing.
- Roland wrote up sync internals for DOE report. Should he submit it as a paper somewhere? Jay suggests XSEDE.
- PTP User Advisory Board - Jay will extend query for dates for first meeting. Need a process for feeding requirements from users into PTP development plans.
- Other Business
- EclipseCon is March 25-28 in Boston http://www.eclipsecon.org/2013/ - schedule is already available http://eclipsecon.org/2013/program/session-schedule
