TPTP-PMC-20090902

Logistics

Attending:

  • Eugene, Oliver, Chris, Ernest, Paul

Any problems with last weeks summary?

  • Only Chris' misspelling of POG (POC)

4.5 Discussion

Oliver asks if we need to talk about 4.5.

  • Eugene notes that there is not currently a formal request from consumer for M4 yet but there are a few defects that are starting to be collected that might be requested.

4.6 Discussion

Eugene notes that there were some issues finishing the test pass so we delayed test pass 2

  • Test pass 1 is now 96% complete
  • Paul had someone who was running Test tests who's last day was last Friday
    • Paul had to refresh his environment so he could run (because he's not run them himself in some time)
    • Paul will finish these soon and found a few defects
  • Eugene had similar problem with an intern who finished up last Friday as well
    • Eugene noted that JVMTI testing is finishing up

Our failure rate is about 2% which is pretty good

  • We plan to start test pass 2 next week.

Helios (4.6.3)

Oliver asks if we see any issues meeting the Helios drop date

  • Chris asks if we are doing anything for Helios early drops
  • Paul notes that last year we didn't start to drop to the next simultaneous until about December
  • Chris agrees that it would be good to wait till after 4.6.1 (fall maintenance) is done
  • Oliver notes that Kathy should project out our 4.6.2 and 4.6.3 schedules when she gets back

Misc

Eugene notes that Kathy will be back next week

We discussed the Itanium system transfer problem a bit more. After Kathy gets back, Oliver would like us to go ahead and have the discussion to pick a drop dead date for the issues to be resolved at which time we will start toward removing Itanium support.

  • Action item to each team to query their consuming teams to determine how significant removing Itanium from the builds would be.

On the POG effort, Oliver brought up again the question of what profiler Eclipse based developers are actually using.

  • Ernest mentioned again that Yourkit is pretty popular even though it requires a fee for commercial development
  • Eugene notes that most of the people that he's talked to who are trying out TPTP are
    • Starting their search mode for a profiler or
    • Want to use an open source solution
