Logistics

Attending: Oliver, Kathy, Eugene, Ernest, Chris, Paul

Any objections to last week's summary?

  • none

Any agenda moves

  • no

4.6 DONE!

Kathy notes that last week some folks asked us to retest the release site.

  • Other than that everything is totally done

4.6.1

4.6.1 is main development stream; no nightmare like some previous years where we kept doing point releases while we wanted to work on fall maintenance. Oliver asks what we need to do in this call to move 4.6.1 along. He was hoping for a short meeting

  • We obviously need the teams to go off and fix bugs
  • Paul notes that during the development phase PMC often does have left to do.

Bugzilla housecleaning

  • Paul sent apologies for all of the mails that it generated;
    • If he had to do it again, he would have turned off notifications during the housecleaning
  • Paul did make a few mistakes initially in his bugfinding process but has fixed it
  • A few people have come thru and reopened some defects (Paul, others at IBM, and some community members).
  • We did get one comment on newsgroup asking if TPTP was dead after seeing all of the closures
  • Paul is not sure if we are getting desired response yet
    • i.e., being clear representation of what we intend to work on
      • Leaner/meaner TPTP, etc.
    • Second objective was to spawn community contribution.
      • Some consumers are looking more seriously at the lists but not yet any volunteers for new work.

Kathy looking at automatic generation of IP log again.

  • Might be able to use it for next release

Patch submitted for running on jvmti and new agent controller on AIX. Would like review done by sometime tommorrow.

Oliver asks for confirmation that we believe that we will get all currently listed P1s completed in 4.6.1

  • No disagreement.

Kathy brought up the topic of JVMTI skills transfer. Chengrui has started documenting some stuff and we are hoping to have this knowledge transfer ramp up considerably.

Kathy mentioned that detailed plan/schedule is on the web site.

Portal fun

Paul has a few items to cover regarding portal cleanup

  • IBM leads are working on the portal cleanup because keeping it up to date for tptp main and all 4 subprojects is painful
  • Moving toward creating common metadata for all projects to simplify
  • Running into some bugs in the portal itself
  • Do not be surprised if you get odd mail about some project related update from the portal. If you get such a message please forward to Kathy and Paul

We ran into issues with electing Kathy/Ernest as committers to TPTP performance project

  • Project only has a few committers and ran into some portal logistics problems.
    • Failed because one of the committers was no longer active in the project
    • Talked to Alex and found that he is no longer a committer; has reviewed with Alex and removed.
  • Has restarted nomination process and is probing Richard (only remaining committer)
    • Oliver is okay with short-ciruiting the process if it becomes too painful and just get PMC approval and have Oliver push the webmaster.

Nomination of Kathy and Ernest as committers to performance project

  • nominated, seconded and unanimously approved
  • Congratulations to Kathy and Ernest

Misc

For 4.5.2.1 milestone 3, Kathy noted that team is pursuing a few more fixes there. Also for 4.5.2.1 builds that were previously using old process:

  • Started trying to move over to new build process. Seems to be pretty close
  • IBM will ask Intel to switch over to new process for this also and asked if this would be a big problem.
  • Chris said that it will probably not be that difficult and will probably simplify the cronjobs after it is done because then we believe 4.6.1 and 4.5.2.1 will be able to coexist.

We discussed the never-ending saga of trying to get some of Intel's Itanium systems to IBM for builds

Oliver asks about the POG effort and asks if we should push it again.

  • Would like to try to get a bit more feedback from users now after the release.
  • Oliver thinks that we will have some schedule time available to really allow some POG bugs in 4.6.1.
  • Eugene will review the list for opportunities and ask consumers to review the list a bit more too
