Plugin Discovery
The purpose of this wiki is to organize efforts to collaborate between WTP and DTP projects on a common infrastructure discovering and installing plugins that conform to certain criteria (such as being a WTP server adapter or a DTP database enablement plugin).
Requirements:
- A framework that can locate plugins that conform to particular criteria and are compatible with user's Eclipse configuration. The framework should consult a central registry maintained at eclipse.org. Should there be a connection to EPIC? How will this list be maintained? Any safeguards?
- A UI piece that can be embedded in various contexts such as WTP runtime creation wizard or DTP database connection wizard.
- (Future) A more general UI for downloading and installing arbitrary plugins known to eclipse.org. This could behave similarly to how Firefox installs add-ons.
