  1. Release Status
    • Revisit release date - Eclipse legal cannot schedule a release review before the end of October, and more time to finish/harden new features will be good. So we will move PTP 3.0 to to Nov 30 - pending Eclipse release review scheduling.
    • Set release schedule - see 3.0 release schedule - please add features you plan to contribute to this page
    • Will need to use intermin build for SC tutorial
    • Wyatt is planning a live CD with PTP, wonders which release to use. Suggested to aim at 3.0
    • No objections to moving release date to Nov 30
  2. Helios
    • We plan to join the Eclipse simultaneous release for mid-2010
    • See Helios_Simultaneous_Release
    • This means earlier integration with Eclipse Helios release and the next CDT
    • But it also means less confusion for our users, and PTP availability on the main update sites
  3. PTP Status
    • Greg working on service model
    • Import/export of service configurations
    • PBS Job scheduler
  4. RDT Status
    • Chris reports working on backporting Remote XL C/C++ toolchain to PTP 2.1.x to support Remote Scanner Discovery and better handling of remote environment variables. Working on Remote Scanner Discovery. Currently hampered by bugs in CDT 5.0.x
    • Mike was working on the new project wizard and service model, currently working on remote XLC parser (adding language to RDT - xlc extensions)
    • Partial remote (maybe NCSA could look at that)
  5. Photran Status
    • Jeff says have cleared out P1 and P2 bugs.
    • want to include wiki documentation in Photran
    • Happy to move release to Nov
  6. ISP Contribution Status
    • Chris and Ganesh reported fixing some bugs and provided better support for Makefile projects
    • Delay of PTP 3.0 release date allows for more testing, bug fixes, etc.
    • Working on improving algorithm scalability
    • Greg reports that Legal CQs were submitted about a month ago, Eclipse legal reviewed and suggested changes, which were submitted. Awaiting final Eclipse legal approval. At that point we can commit to CVS and add to releng (release engineering) to go into the PTP builds.
    • Greg noted that bug fix patches of < 250 LOC do not need to go through another Eclipse legal review
  7. ETFw Status
    • Beth plans to put new "External Tools Feedback" view as part of ETFw - will show an XML file generated by another tool, in an eclipse view, and map to source code lines (
    • Greg presented PTP to ORNL today and they expressed an interest in ETFeedback view, wanted to know granularity (map to character positions e.g. variable locations too? Beth said yes, can make sure this is supported.)
    • Wyatt working on putting together a live DVD for demos at SC09 and wondered about what version of PTP to include.
    • Also reported that, since we're entering the SC crunch now, probably no new features for ETFw until afterward. Mostly bug fixing. Still looking at RDT integration. Having some issues with RDT.
  8. Other new contributions?
    • Max is working on new UPC project wizard. Concerns about contributing prematurely (but delaying PTP 3.0 a month helps this). Concerns about if it belongs in CDT vs PTP (including with PTP can get it out very soon, vs waiting for CDT will mean mid-2010). It can always be contributed to CDT later. Max's PPW (Parallel Performance Wizard) needs this wizard for ease of use. Current wizard is based on Berkeley UPC. Greg urges starting a bugzilla entry for this contribution soon, so Eclipse legal review can begin.
    • Interest in new project wizard / toolchain development from GCC UPC creators too.
  9. Other Business
    • Upcoming PTP Tutorial at SC09 Monday Nov 16 - presented by Greg, Beth, Jay and Jeff
    • PGAS Conference - PTP mini-tutorial related to UPC tools (Beth)
    • disk space quotas (Beth) - we will delete builds downloads for already-released versions of PTP (<3.0) since they are available as official releases now. Will link to these from wiki builds pages.
  10. Next meeting
    • Tuesday Nov 10 (the week before Supercomputing 2009 Conference)
