Open issue raised by Martin O: I recently learned that counter the practice that we have used up to now for defining Themes for our XML project plans, it looks like the Board's original intent was to have the project plan themse aligned "as good as possible" with the Requirements Council Themes & Priorities from RC Themes
Do we want to massage our T&P's to match these?
Martin: emailed Don and Bjorn about whether they want to enforce this.
Doug: the T&P for embedded and mobile haven't changed much from previous years. It's not very compelling for us to align to this. I also thought the T&P were going to be auto-generated from the XML plans.
Doug: Review DSDP project T&P and provide Don with some high-level ones.
(info from last mtg) Project Plan XML format changed (for namespaces). See Development Resources/Project Plan for details. Now also includes infos on tooling (WTP's XML editor), converting from non-namespace variant, and getting started with the XML.

Tml: Short, Long, part of a Tutorial
Martin asked about whether we could do multiple topics in the 4hr tutorial. He doesn't want to do another TM tutorial this year, though. Doug & Eric: Ask about 2hr tutorials for EclipseCon 09. Likes the idea of a panel for Mobile. Short talk on TM. Short talk on Packaging. Could participate in a partial tutorial.
MTJ: Demos, maybe a tutorial, short. A mobile panel would be interesting for the MWG. Doug & Eric: Check into panel allocations for EclipseCon 09
NAB: Short talk would be good with a prototype. Also a short talk on Translation Platform.
DD: Could do a DSF tutorial again. Does this live in CDT or DSDP? Probably CDT. Pawel is also interested in helping in the packaging talk. Perhaps TCF would be good for a 2hr tutorial.
RTSC: Long talk feedback was great. But showing some stuff would be good, too. A short talk would also be helpful to update status. Not ready for a tutorial yet, though. Martin is tracking down licensing issues now.
Initial goal is to just get something going. Rather than focus on install, Martin is going to manually assemble the components via shell scripts and then put together a VM image (of Linux) with everything.
Martin will demo this at ESE.
Initial focus is C/C++ technologies (TM, DD, CDT, NAB, TmL, probably RTSC). Biggest decisions is what emulator and what OS. Martin wants to start with QEMU and Linux.
Discussion about RTOS to include. Dave had some ideas on their RTOS and potentially a way to use RTSC. They would like an open source BIOS. Dave: Think about DSDP Packaging effort and whether they can release an open source BIOS.
Christian: I'm looking at something similar for Mobile. Are you looking at P2/EPP? Martin: no, because we can't put GPL code into EPP projects.
DSDP Incubator project (no progress or update today)
Unanimous approval to create the incubator. Doug: create the DSDP incubator and build the initial website.
Project Updates (copied from last meeting - to be updated during the call)
DD
Still working on stabilizing 1.1 for November.
CDT project is interested in taking DSF and memory rendering.
eRCP
Main effort is standardization effort. Things are progressing. Eng goal: spec released at same time as 1.3 release.
P3ML interested companies: BandXI, MicroDoc, IST-EU. Who should follow up? Doug: get contact info for P3ML interested companies to Mark.
Gorkem requested move review, but no feedback yet.
MTJ
Release review material done for next week.
Working on larger project plans with Sybase - preprocessing and roadmap.
Working on a press release for MTJ 0.9 release with Nokia and Motorola. Christian: Talk to Ian and Craig about getting a quotation from Craig for the MTJ 0.9 press release.
China has more than 50% of the downloads. 4500 downloads. Martin has seen something similar.
Christian: Write up an explanation of the EclipseME transition to MTJ and post on the Web. Explain the version numbering of Eclipse and make a statement about technical maturity of MTJ.
NAB
Discussion started inside Fujitsu on NAB platform enhancements and opening up.
Bugzilla 3.2 Japanese Template - should be coming soon.
Japanese work group - will finish Ganymede translation in March. Making a translation platform that will be open source. Babel project knows that they are doing this work. Babel is focused on menu and message. Their translation platform focused on help and other documents.
RTSC
Trying to setup SVN environment. Martin has helped out. Subversive environment on Windows not working well yet. Linux seems to be working.
Working on transition to bugzilla.
Hopefully within the next months, newsgroup activity will start. Still need an internal place for sales questions.
IPZilla - still working on submission, will ask for parallel IP.
TM
Tm 3.0.1 done. 3.1 M2 created and delivered on Galileo.
3.1 isn't too exciting. Mostly incremental improvements. TCF is a big topic.
EFS support for transparent access on remote systems is TBD at this point. Potentially some performance problems on remote project refresh. e4 resources promises to fix this.
(no update) Releng - Nick Boldt is working on moving viewCVS to project dash (among other things). This will be one officially copy, which will allow access from the main web site. Nick is working on a vmware image for automated builds.
TmL
Release review for TmL 0.1 is ongoing. Code is frozen, IP Logs are approved, PMC approval (thank you). Review session currently slated for Oct 8. Still have some open questions about whether we've done all the work correctly.
We have a long talk, short talk, and tutorial session submission planned for EC2009. Have sent drafts to Doug for review.
Fixed the XML project plan to work with the new namespaces.
In November, there will be 2 commercial products from Motorola released utilizing TmL as plugins. This is a first for us as Motorola had previously used TmL code directly.
We are closely monitoring the CVS/SVN discussion on the committers list. We voted in July to move to SVN, but had not done so yet. Input from other groups in DSDP is welcome.
Next Meeting: TBD.
