Mark Vandenbrink
As a Motorola Fellow and Chief Architect of Systems Software within the company’s Mobile Devices business, Mark leads a team that designs and implements the next-generation system-level software---focusing on user-experience, multi-modal networks, Linux, Java and other next-generation technologies. Involved early-on with open platforms for mobile devices, Mark headed up the MIDP 1.0 expert group, lead the team that launched of the world's first MIDP 1.0 compliant phone, architected the world's first Java + Linux phone---the Motorola A760, and spearheaded Motorola's open source collaboration initiatives found on opensource.motorola.com.
Before joining Motorola, Mark worked on the mobile Java platform for IBM, designing software for the company’s Pervasive Computing Division. Mark started his career in 1986 at Intergraph, a leading global provider of spatial information management (SIM) software
