Main Agenda Items

• UI tests no longer function on HIPP10, likely due to advancements in SWT requirements and a lack of updates being done to HIPP10. We have no choice but to migrate to JIRO. Most of our builds on ci.eclipse.org/webtools are no longer running tests for the sake of finishing our master builds.
  • CBI Bug 568551 on our breakage

• • JIRO migration is being tracked in bug 568553, with new jobs having been created at https://ci-staging.eclipse.org/webtools/ .
  • FAQ entry on what needs to be updated, followed by a section on getting our UI tests running
    • Java EE builds are failing due their still using BREE of J2SE-1.4, which is not provided in JIRO. These are compilation failures that must be addressed. With the tests disabled on HIPP10, Java EE no longer had functioning BVT.
    • Dali and Web Services have consistently failing tests. Orbit has added the Jakarta EE 8 versions of APIs that were removed in Java 11, making those usable as potential solutions.
    • Releng needs to determine how to publish builds from JIRO

WTP 3.21 for Eclipse 4.19 and IDE 2021-03

• Standard shutdown rules for changes: Project Lead approval required for changes after M3, PMC Review for any changes after RC1 (e.g. to be in a RC2).

• Release Plan
• Bugs of WTP 3.21 (table).
• Jakarta EE 9 Platform has GA'd. Their Meeting and Community calendars. An incomplete list of items needed for WTP to support it properly can be found here: WTP "Jakarta EE 9" Bug Query, using a specific whiteboard value. The list needs more input and additions from the various project leads and committers.

• Java 16 is expected in March 2021. Java 17 is the next scheduled LTS release.

• Project Leads, make sure you have a 3.21 release, scheduled for March 17th, 2021, to your project under https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/webtools . With the Bugzilla information filled out in your individual project metadata, you can see overviews like https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/webtools/releases/3.21/bugs . When you log in on the PMI page, the link to create a New Release will be available on the right. 3.21 will GA on March 17th as part of 2021-03.

• For bugs that should be in the PLAN, use the "plan" keyword and a 3.21, 3.21 milestone, or 3.21 release candidate target.

• SimRel FAQ and Plan
• Bugzilla naming: Put the simrel into the Version that's reported against, e.g. "3.20 (2020-12)" since that's filled in by reporters, but keep the Target Milestone simple as before (3.21, 3.21 M1, etc.) so that bug queries don't get too convoluted.

• Schedule is for 13 weeks, 4 cycles per year:
  • one week decompress and plan
  • (3) three week milestones
  • one week RC1, changes require Project Lead approval
  • one week RC2, changes require Project Lead and PMC +1 approval
  • one week quiet and release

• We meet roughly once per Milestone / RC scheduled for 1 week before the candidate build day. Declare is 5 days later with the corresponding EPP 2 days after that, and official SimRel/IDE availability one day after that. WTP 3.21 and Eclipse IDE 2021-03 release on March 17, 2021.
