What happens at a Demo Camp?

What happens at a Demo Camp

Since this is a new thing for Eclipse, we're still figuring out the format. Here is our current proposal (and remember ths is a wiki, so eidt and comment at will). We want to give each presenter some time on their own (10 or 15 minutes), and then also have some demos running all the time. The intent is that people get fired by what they hear and then look for more information. Depending on how many people we get, we may even set up two screens so that one can set up while the other presents. (Modeled after the two stages of local blues festival!).

But back to basics ... it's what you want. We think of it as a camp not a conference. And a camp means people come with their laptops and interact with presenters and sw. How many times have you gone to conferences, seen something neat, copied down the urls (and the three easy installation steps!), gone home, did exactly what you saw, and it doesn't work. If it's important, you put in the extra effort to make it work. But how much good stuff do you miss our on?

At a camp, people try stuff out and make it work. But it's only a couple of hours .... socializing and networking are important too, and honestly if that's all that happens, that's a success too. --Tkubaska.ieee.org 15:53, 16 November 2007 (EST)
