Installation of pre-release versions of PTP 5.0

If you are a developer or just like to live on the bleeding edge ...

  • Install Eclipse 3.7 'Indigo' and PTP 5.0
    • You can install the new "Eclipse IDE for Parallel Application Developers" from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/indigo/m5 - one single download and install step!
      • Theoretically, that is. Bleeding edge, remember? For M5, part of Fortran and RDT are missing. Use the Indigo update site to install them on top of this to get the parts that are missing, if you need them.
    • Or, install Eclipse 3.7 'Indigo' also from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/indigo/m5 by choosing e.g. Eclipse Classic or the Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers.
      • Then, install CDT from the Indigo update site if you don't have the C/C++ IDE
      • Install PTP from the Indigo update site
  • Install proxy on target machine
    • The contents of the 'proxy' are under the eclipse/plugins/ directory of your installation. Move the appropriate one to your target machine and build as the 4.0 Release Notes describe.

Refer to Release Notes for 4.0 for other info.
