Minutes
- Overall project, releases, etc.
- Next builds, releases
- 5.0 Indigo - no more releases planned - last release was 5.0.7 "we bid adieu to Indigo"
- 6.0 Juno - M7+2 is *today* May 8; next builds are RCs (Release Candidates); next is RC1 May 22; if you have final adjustments please get them in before RC1. API freeze is today.
- aggregation builds are continuous; move ptp builds to staging only if aggregation is not in progress - this keeps aggregation build from failing due to ptp
- Next builds, releases
- Resource Managers
- separate Generic from specific? generic RMs will be put in Core; contributed RMs will be a separate feature, or could remove this feature. Put in EPP, make part of Juno Repo. Make the system-specific RMs removable so the list is not so long. We have about 20 RMs now.
- see Juno Planning page
- Features for PTP Juno Repository and EPP Parallel package - do we have a good list?
- Test Plan - see PTP 6.x - need committed volunteers!
- PPW - Beth will contact Max Billingsley (original PPW author, moved on to new job) and if nobody is testing PPW we should remove it.
- We need everyone to test ASAP.
- Release notes - see PTP 6.0
- Please contribute to PTP/new_and_noteworthy/6.0.0 - with screenshots if appropriate.
- Download stats - 58,240 for SR2 as of 5/8/12; see below for details
- Status Reports
- PTP Core/debug
- RDT and remote status
- Synchronized Projects
- John finished relocation of sync projects; working on merge tool now; new wizard is next/ internals of sync changes need testing. Some methods are deprecated. Still broken: importing project into a different workspace (service configs are stored in WS and aren't available from new WS)
- Synchronized Projects
- Resource Managers - legacy and JAXB (configurable)
- New RM-less launch infrastructure committed Friday 5/4; in Juno builds now
- Launch: New RM-less launch infrastructure is now in Juno build (by Greg). Need feedback!
- launch config setup - a single launch TYPE, then multiple launch DELEGATES can apply to it. 1)Legacy 2) new 3) ETFw profiling
- Must specify which type of launch: preference or individual; defaults to new launch type; can change to legacy launch type - enables old legacy RMs. Link at bottom of launch dialog allows switch to legacy launch type.
- Monitoring - incl. new System Monitoring Perspective
- Carsten - System Monitoring View can zoo in/out. Usage bar too.
- Claudia - new views (hidden by default) - usage bar in next 2 weeks - load of whole system. Job statistics. Monitors view - selection not working well. Claudia will open a bug.
- PLDT
- Added for Juno: OpenACC, OpenSHMEM; Removed IBM LAPI; MPI upgraded to 2.2 APIs (added a lot of new APIs including parallel file I/O)
- ETFw
- Res Manager changes requied some changes to ETFw
- ETFw change to use JaxB res managers - want to start planning soon. Won't make Juno release.
- To test PTP, please update from the juno/nightly update site
- GEM testing - Alan will test.
- PPW - Beth will contact Max (N.B. done; Max reports two folks at U.Florida will test PPW)
- Photran
- Several new refactorings commited. Jeff will update docs in photran.doc.user plugin this time (not separate in photran wiki)
- Docs, Help, N&N
- Greg and Beth will update docs as much as possible before Juno release (no other volunteers)
- new term "Target system configuration" uses XML template (instead of "Resource Manager")
- 1)TSC target sys configuration 2) system type - job scheduler or runtime system
- Config file CAN have a system type, or omit it - so no monitoring is available then
- Bugs
- 374003 MOTD has html tags in the message. Problem for torque alps module. Need to nag on the bug so this gets fixed.
- 375460 re-login to machine required for XLC, not handling sync projects well
- Env. variables for BG/Q - Simon Wail needs bug fix (in CDT?) for BG/Q fix
- Other PTP contributions
- PTP User call report
- Previous call was Wed April 25, 2012 (4th Wednesday) See PTP/PTP_User_Meetings - answering various user questions
- Topic was Python (speaker: Steven Brandt?) Can we help support PyDev in PTP? Not until after Juno.
- PTP User call June 27 will cover new PTP 6.0 features
- Education and Outreach
- PTP Tutorials submitted to XSEDE (July 16 -accepted) and SC12 (Nov 18 or 19, if accepted, will focus more on perf tools); BOF submitted to SC12 for Wed Nov 21 5:30-7 PM; XSEDE BOF submitted; ICS tutorial (Venice) accepted but awaiting travel approval; conflicts with XSEDE (N.B. ICS tutorial cancelled);
