Agenda

  1. Status Reports
    • Next builds, releases
      • 4.0.6 was Helios Service Release 2 -- Feb. 25.
      • 4.0.7 release is requested by Beth and Dave. (N.B. Jeff/Photran want a 4.0.7 release too) - planned for Apr 1
      • 5.0.0 on Indigo Simultaneous Release is June 22
        • Next up: M6+2 is 3/15 so our build from 3/14 (or prior) will probably be used as first candidate for M6
        • Repository to test after M6 is released: Indigo repo of (DO NOT USE THIS) http://download.eclipse.org/releases/indigo/ or our PTP-specific repo of http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ptp/updates/indigo
          • N.B. the indigo repo has a bug (we were building against an old CDT) and we recommend our "M6+" build of 3/17, which is in the PTP-specific repo and is also in the epp-parallel M6 package.
        • Remote build: there may be more problems with this
        • Is CDT +1 or +2? Chris says should be +1 (is incorrect in project info)
      • Parallel Package of 5.0.0 on Indigo
        • M6 builds: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/indigo/m6 - also the development builds tab on the main downloads page points to M6 after about 3/18.
        • EPP packaging (feature contents) for our parallel package - Beth will work on updating this (it was incomplete for M5,parts of Photran and RDT missing) - will contact Markus Knauer (who builds the epp packages) and ask for an early build
          • Need to add Linuxtools too (N.B. can't add Linuxtools since it won't work with all platforms)
        • Test plan wiki page - http://wiki.eclipse.org/PTP/testing/5.x all PTP developers should add themselves to the test matrix on this page
          • Testing plans for coverages of features, platforms
    • RDT and remote status
      • Chris has been working on CDT the last month, no news.
      • Remote Sync projects (Roland and John) - proof of concept with git is working. Git code has been submitted for code review to eclipse foundation. For Git version, a modification was requested to jGit.
      • Remote build - how to integrate with CDT building? Chris: future multiple remote hosts would work too. Multiple service model configs, store in build config.
        • Mark new APIs as provisional? easier to change later.
    • Resource Managers
      • Al and Greg working on control; Claudia and Wolfgang working on monitoring.
      • Al: xml will drive widget creation in launch config. Internal packages are non API. Mark other plugins as friends. Convention is ".internal" in package name. x-internal=true or x-friends. Definition of "API" is a non-internal package.
      • Claudia; working on server side. Claudia wkg on UI; Wolfgang working on backend. Jobs display is working, now working on Nodes display. Eclipse Foundation is now working on CQ which is in the queue for Indigo release. Test by the end of March or early April.
    • PLDT (Beth)
      • Nick at UIUC has OpenMP refactoring interest. Probably won't make Indigo release.
      • Beth visited U.Minnesota in Feb. and gave PTP tutorial to MSI Minnesota Supercomputing Institute staff.
    • ETFw, other tool integrations (GEM, PPW, etc.)
      • ETFw/Wyatt: working on additional widget support. Support smaller screen resolutions. TAU command line interface changed; ETFw support is OK for this.
      • Al asked about where the widget-generation support was. etfw.toolopts.ToolParser.java etfw.tau sample: tool.xml -- No schema, just internally parsed.
      • Al would need a schema for his use of jaxp. ptp.rm.jaxp.core
      • Wyatt is using Sax now for xml parsoing. Al uses JAXP to consume xml.
      • Al needs to add new package to project set for PTP
      • ETFw remote file support - conversion to EFS is in process. Still using some java.io.File APIs.
      • API baseline - Beth will post how to set up
      • ETFw Feedback might use JAXP? Al recommends to watch memory usage of JAXP.
      • GEM (Alan)
        • Alan introduced PTP in a class at Utah - did PTP tutorial. PTP usage was optional but about 35-30% of class is using it. PBS Res Mgr and RDT are bit hits with the students. Class is using a 32-node cluster for MPI programming.
        • Remote-enabling of GEM: Alan has completely overhauled GEM to use EFS. Some new views. Some remote and local files. Hope to finish by end of March.
    • Photran (Jeff)
      • Index improvements, Code templates done
    • Other PTP contributions
  2. PTP User call report - next user call is Wed. Mar 23, 2pm ET, 1pm CT
    • - last month didn't happen due to technical difficulties
  3. Other Business
    • Greg and Al are going to EclipseCon - Mar 21-24. PTP BOF planned
  4. Next meeting - April 12, 2011
