Minutes

  • Considering dropping support for Windows 95, 98, ME
    • These platforms don't support Unicode which requires separate ANSI natives
    • This adds complexity to launcher code and increases maintenance cost - each new native needs to have ANSI and Unicode variants
    • SWT still works on these platforms but would quickly run into resource constraints
  • OSGi face to face meetings underway this week
    • OSGi R5 spec development underway
    • Discussion of moving to Java 5 but maintaining binary compatibility with R4
    • EEG framework discussion (multiplexing of singletons, etc)
    • Changes to config admin under discussion
  • More discussion on how to register services like event admin
    • Could put DS component in a fragment
    • Could have a fragment for case where user doesn't want to use DS
    • Can require user to register components themselves if DS is not present
