Design Specification: Java SE & EE Refresh
Update to minimal required Java SE version 8, and Java EE version 7, with support for Java EE 8 (and JDK 9). Update bundled components / dependencies with EL installer, update internal code structures to new apis. Update to support new features since EJB 2.1, JDBC 4 (JDK6) through 4.1 (JDK7) to 4.2 (JDK8). Support/leverage new apis added in Java SE 6, 7, 8 internally and externally.
