ECE2018 Automotive

Since about 2006, Eclipse technology has been used in automotive engineering, starting with tools for embedded engineering. In the past few years the interest of the industry has grown beyond just the use of existing technology. With the creation of the openMDM and openPASS working groups, the actors have started their own open collaboration groups within the Eclipse Foundation, adding valuable systems and components to the Eclipse technology stack.

OpenADx at a glance -- Andreas Riexinger and Lars Geyer-Blaumeiser (Bosch)

One challenge the Bosch Autonomous Driving division faces is the toolchain for developing autonomous driving solutions becoming more complex by every level of automation. Well established tools are not well integrated for the use cases and it is easy to detect gaps in the overall toolchain. The Bosch division together with partners from the industry and related domains build up a community to solve the toolchain challenge together in the OpenADx ecosystem. We want to discuss the approach and the current activities and results within the ecosystem.

openGENESIS at a glance

openGENESIS - founded by DFKI and TÜV SÜD - is an open collaboration platform for assessment and certification of AI for autonomous driving. The mission is to provide knowledge, methods and tools for the assessment of artificial intelligence (AI) used for autonomous driving. Learning algorithms should be proved to be safe and roadworthy before deployed to public road. From today’s point of view, we are not able to completely understand and explain the detailed functionality of learned algorithms due to the high complexity. openGENESIS will supply public and regulation authorities with necessary approaches to deal with the challenges of approval and certification of AI. Providing a “TÜV for AI”.

OpenMobility for everyone -- Michael Behrisch (DLR)

Traffic and message flow need to be simulated and a variety of open tools is about to join the forces and prepare a common environment to facilitate this process in close communication with the industry partners. The presented working group joins members from industry (Bosch) as well as simulation tool providers from research (e.g. DLR - SUMO) and is open for new members.
