Though the CDT development team understands that the current managed build system is powerful and not easy to be replaced; there is currently consensus within the CDT development team that it is better to replace the current managed build system than it is to upgrade it.

There is also consensus that this is a daunting task that should not be handled lightly. The amount of work and the number of integrations makes the new managed build system a project needing a wide variety of people.

Due to the wide variety and backgrounds of the people involved, it is not easy to formulate a common understanding of the problem domain and the solution. These pages are here to help you understand the solution and the reasoning behind the solutions that have been implemented.

At their current state these pages are a work in progress meant to get to a common understanding of the problem domain and the solution.
