Currently there are two approaches covering the BPMN to STP-IM model transformation. The user will have the freedom to choice between the two, depending on the use case he is aiming to:
- Declarative. Neutral approach; produces the most basic IM instance containing only information about the business process in the BPMN diagram.
- Imperative: Runtime Technology Based. Used when the user aims to obtain a IM instance annotated with runtime technology information to later transform a model of this kind (BPEL, JBI).
