This illustration shows how EclipseLink JPA overriding mechanism works in the case of usage of annotations, object relational mapping file and persistence unit properties: EclipseLink persistence provider builds metadata starting with defaults, then JPA annotations, then overrides that with elements of the object relational mapping file, and then applies defaults. This results in creation of in-memory EclipseLink session and project. Then the persistence unit properties are applied.
