Talk:OpenADx

Adding an introduction paragraph

The main page is missing an introductory paragraph above the headline that quickly informs a visitor on the key aspects of OpenADx. Here on the discussion page I want to draft such a paragraph, give others the chance to read it, comment/discuss and further apply changes _before_ such an item goes live on the true page.

The OpenADx Working Group wants to serve in the field of software tools for the realization of autonomous driving (AD) by defining open interfacing standards for software for use in vehicle based systems and in testing environments, where the second will typically be realized by means of cloud services doing at least software builds, virtual test runs and collecting results. The name OpenADx thus stands for "Open, Autonomous Driving Accelerator". The group is formed by a multitude of parties from various parts of the world and supported by several well-known industry companies. <!-- The OpenADx Working Group is set up as a working group under the governance of the Eclipse Foundation. -->

Please note that the reference to the Eclipse Foundation might be a little ahead of time or might need to evolve over time. --Alexander.stohr.zf.com (talk) 04:41, 23 May 2019 (EDT)

Alexander, I very much appreciate your idea. Regarding the Eclipse Foundation, I think that we have reached a point in time where we need to reference the Eclipse Foundation, because we have made it clear that the group will likely be founded as an Eclipse Working Group, in accordance to the Eclipse WG Process and under the Eclipse Foundation bylaws. This makes it clear under what governance etc. the Working Group will operate. My 5 cents. I have changed some words and added a few links.

Added Wiki comments formatting (along with no-wiki to keep it visible here) on the eclipse sentence. So its present in the source only but wont show up until its valid and can be advertised. --Alexander.stohr.zf.com (talk) 03:05, 24 May 2019 (EDT)
Moved the Eclipse relation part to the end of the paragraph. --Alexander.stohr.zf.com (talk) 05:43, 28 May 2019 (EDT)
