Talk:FAQ How do I upgrade Eclipse IDE?

Revision as of 10:30, 15 August 2014 by Groblewis.mac.com (Talk | contribs) (Doesn't work going from Kepler to Luna in Ubuntu 14.04: new section)

This sounds great, but it doesn't work for me when attempting to upgrade from 3.1(.1) to 3.2. Is this a bug?

(20100325) How do I upgrade Eclipse from 3.4 to 3.5? Best info I found was http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1224420/how-to-update-eclipse-from-3-4-ganymede-to-3-5-galileo but http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo does not seem to work. And http://help.eclipse.org/galileo/topic/org.eclipse.platform.doc.user/tasks/tasks-2.htm seems to imply you do a full install, not an upgrade.

Doesn't work going from Kepler to Luna in Ubuntu 14.04

I started Kepler in admin mode and the upgrade appeared to be working until I got this:

An error occurred while uninstalling session context was:(profile=epp.package.standard, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Uninstall, operand=[R]org.eclipse.platform_root 4.3.2.v20140221-1852 --> null, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.actions.CleanupzipAction). Backup of file /opt/eclipse/.eclipseproduct failed. File that was copied to backup could not be deleted: /opt/eclipse/.eclipseproduct
