Is anyone out there actually using ECL core for anything? I've compiled the plugins, but doens't seem like core is tied to the interface at all. I'd like to just run an interpreter. How do I do this?

Use Case for Scripting: Auto-create Project

I'm using the Force.com IDE for most of my Eclipse use, and one big hassle is to delete and recreate a Force.com Project that includes all components, max timeout, etc etc. I would love to be able to script Eclipse to make one or several projects in a way that I can configure and reproduce easily. I've looked into ECL, but without materials to get a Java-familiar Eclipse user to a point where they can understand what's necessary, it seems way too daunting...
