Presentations on STEM in 2012

"Extending Geospatial Data to Support Epidemiological Modeling", Edlund S, Davis M, Kaufman J. ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS'12

Three presentations shared the ongoing collaboration between IBM Research Division, Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA, and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, Department for Biological Safety, Germany.

Two were given at ISVEE 13, "Building Bridges, Crossing Borders." The annual meeting of the International Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, ISVEE took place August 20-24, 2012, in Maastricht, the Netherlands. More information about the meeting is available at their website [1]/ These two presentations were:

"The SpatioTemporal Epidemiological Modeler: an open source framework for modeling food-borne disease." Authors: Kaufman JH (presenter), Davis M, Douglas JV, Edlund S, Hu K, Filter M, Wigger J-F, Thoens C, Weiser AA, Kaesbohrer A, Appel B.

"A community resource for spatial, temporal and food chain epidemiological modelling to assess risks in bio-terroristic or agro-terroristic crisis situations." Authors: Falenski A (presenter), Thoens C, Filter M, Kaesbohrer A, Appel B, Kaufman JH, Edlund S, Davis M, Douglas JV, Hu K.

The third presentation was given at Future Security 2012, in Bonn, Germany, September 4-6. Sponsored by the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Process and Ergonomics (FKE), this meeting was the 7th on this topic. This presentation was:

"An open-source community resource for epidemiological modelling in bioterroristic or agroterroristic crisis situations." Authors: Falenski A, Thoens C, Filter M, Kaesbohrer A, Kaufman J, Edlund S, Davis M, Douglas J, Hu K, Appel B.
