Minutes

  • Overall project, releases, etc.
    • Kepler master branch - 7.0.? 7.1? 8.0? haven't decided which release it will be
      • See discussion on cdt-dev and cross-project mailing lists on shortening Eclipse release cycle. . Discussion.
      • if add feature, 7.1; if API change, do 8.0. Might need more API cleanup.
    • ptp_7_0 branch
      • Kepler release and PTP 7.0 was Wednesday June 26; PTP 7.0.1 had some bugs fixed, release July 3. There are a few more bugs. Busy preparing XSEDE tutorial for July 22 though.
        • Release post-mortem, lessons learned? Suggestion: No new features past M7. Have eekly calls pre-release, the last month or so, to check in on testing.
          • Our work is affected by only 3 Eclipse package releases (R, SR1, and SR2). See discussions about more frequent releases. We are doing a custom build for the Parallel package for XSEDE tutorial. Simplifies installation for attendees.
    • Gerrit
      • PTP project is now enabled for Gerrit. Beth has changed PTP environment setup wiki page (http://wiki.eclipse.org/PTP/environment_setup_70#Checking_out_PTP_projects_with_Git) for new URL. Existing simple commits still work. git.eclipse.org/r can push changes for review instead of directly into repository. Can see the commit on the review website. Can be built by build server to assure build works. This would replace the procedure of creating bug, attaching patch, reviewing etc. Workflow also manages the IP as well. Checks authorization for committers as well. Interface for review is a collaborative environment, post comments and changes to patch, etc. Interactive. Greg feels this is easier than bugzilla. John&Roland have started using it. Tutorial meeting to cover and discuss would be useful. Optional for now, after training we may make it required. Roland show us workflow and features? Use as a topic for user call?
    • Downloads (see bottom of page)
  • Misc topics:
  • PTP contributions/changes still to consider for the future?
    • GIG (Graphical Inquisitor for GPU Programs) - Utah
    • PerfSuite Feedback - postponed until after Kepler. NCSA/Rui Liu. Integration with Chris N's profile launch?? Should they be packaged together in feature?
      • Rui has to sign contributors' agreement now? Also dual license issue.
  • PTP Build - Greg working on this; Tycho 0.17/18 changes such that you can build a proper Mac application bundle (dirs under .app) presume package builds will eventually do this; could build Sysmon this way and our own PTP package builds. Command line usage: cd and use it.
      • upcoming build changes: signing with crypto key: New tycho feature can sign indiv bundles as they are built. Should speed up the build.
      • Greg working on Junit tests to run automatically as part of build. Will need more tests. Test for remote projects: how to encode passwords.
      • hudson new build jobs: Three pieces per build:
        • ptp-X-photran
        • ptp-X-build - ptp
        • ptp-X-repo aggregation
        • Where X is: nightly: master release: 7.0.1 maint: prev version ( will be 6.0 but now it's 4.2, will change) - only nightly runs automatically on git change. (Beth needs to hook up build page web pages on wiki)
  • Status Reports
    • PTP Core/debug
    • RDT, Synchronized Project, Remote
    • Target System Configuration support
    • Monitoring
