In general, if you follow the rules regarding the recording of use of third-party libraries and accepting contributions the generation of the IP Log should require virtually no effort.
+

+
The IP Log Generator gathers information from numerous sources.

== Third-Party Libraries ==
+

+
The IP Log generator gathers third-party library information from IPZilla. All active [[Development Resources/Contribution Questionnaire|Contribution Questionnaires]] (CQs) are included in the list. Note that CQs marked as obsolete or withdrawn are not included in the list.
+

+
If your IP Log includes entires that are marked as "pending", then the corresponding CQs have not been processed by the IP Team. If your current release requires these third-party libraries, then you'll have to wait to submit your IP Log for review and--by extension--wait to do your release until after the IP Team has approved them.

== Committers ==
+

+
Anybody who has ever been a committer on the project will be listed. This information comes from the Foundation Database.

== Contributors and Contributions ==
+

+
Information about contributions is extracted from two sources: the project's Git repositories, and Bugzilla.
+

+
The project's Git repositories (as specified on the ''Development Resources'' tab on the project's PMI page) are mined for this information. Any commit that was authored by non-committers are automatically listed. Please see [[Development Resources/Handling Git Contributions|Handling Git Contributions]] to ensure that Git commits are properly structured.
+

+
Contributions received via Bugzilla as patches are listed in this section as well. Contributions must be uploaded by the author as attachments on a bug and a committer must set the iplog+ flag on the attachment. An entire bug can also be marked as iplog+, but this is discouraged as marking a bug as such indicates that every comment is an IP contribution. ''Use of Bugzilla to accept contributions is deprecated.''
+

+
Contributions from committers may be included in this section if those contributions were authored while the individual did not have committer status.

== Licenses ==
+

+
The list of licenses displayed in the IP Log come from the Eclipse Foundation Database. If you find errors in this section, connect with [mailto:emo@eclipse.org EMO] to have them resolved.
+

+
== Repositories ==
+

+
The list of repositories (which is used to feed the process that harvests contribution data) comes from the information specified in the project's metadata.

+
If you find errors in this section, confirm that your project's ''Development Resources'' page reports the repositories correctly. If cannot resolve it yourself connect with [mailto:emo@eclipse.org EMO] for assistance.
