Jakarta Logo Submission
If you'd like to submit a new logo for Jakarta EE, feel free to submit it to this page for review. Please provide a copy of the graphics and information on how we can contact the submitter.
If your design is selected you will be required to assign ownership of the artwork to the Eclipse Foundation.
The deadline for submissions is 16-MAR-2018, 2pm ET.
Design Brief: Describe what your organization or product does and its target audience:
Jakarta is the new name for the technology formerly known as “Java EE” or “J2EE”. This software platform is used worldwide to power business-critical software systems in all types of enterprises. In the future, Jakarta will be the brand which will take this technology to the Cloud.
This mark will be used in a wide variety of things - small logo on printed flyers, certification mark used on websites, logo on clothing, etc. Please make sure it is clean, crisp and easily readable.
As well, please make sure this logo works in monochrome and full color.
Target audience: Developers, software architects, software executives, enterprise executives, DevOps/IT specialists, global audience.

Richard Monson-Haefel - rmonson@tomitribe.com Description: The logo of a Tiger is symbolic of the Island of Java, part of the natural range of the Javan Tiger. Long thought extinct the Javan Tiger has fallen into legend and folklore with many sightings but no evidence for the past 40 years - until, that is, last year when a Tiger was caught on camera in Ujung Kulon National Park in West Java by park rangers. For many cultures, the Tiger symbolizes power, grace, and even wisdom. Of the big cats, the Tiger, in all is resplendent forms, covers more land mass than any other big cat with habitats ranging from sweltering southern Indonesia to freezing northern Siberia. For Jakarta EE the Javan Tiger logo, like its namesake, represents power, grace, and wisdom but also rebirth and rediscovery. The font, Kuro, is chosen for its resemblance to the native Javanese caligraphy in recognition of the centuries of culture and tradition of that Island nation. The Jakarta EE logo can have an expanded pallet but the color uses here is red and dark red (#ef4136)
