Eclipse at ECOOP 2006

The European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming (ECOOP 2006) will be held from July 3-7, 2006 in Nantes, France. The Eclipse community will be participating in several ways at the conference and we hope to see you there. Below you'll find more information about tutorials on Eclipse topics, the Eclipse Technology Exchange Workshop and the special evening event, the "Eclipse Bistro", hosted by the Eclipse Foundation.

Eclipse Technology Exchange (eTX) Workshop at ECOOP 2006

You are invited to participate in the Eclipse Technology Exchange Workshop on July 4th at ECOOP 2006! The goal of the eTX workshop is to create opportunities for participants to become familiar with each other's work and to create a challenging environment for open exchange among participants. The deadline for position papers has been extended to May 15, 2006 - find out more in the call for papers!

You'll find more details on the ECOOP Tutorials Overview.

Eclipse Bistro

Join us at the Eclipse Bistro at ECOOP! On Tuesday, July 4th from 19:00-21:00 (at the Cite des Congres, Nantes) in room 200, you'll have the opportunity to share your Eclipse questions, solutions and new ideas in a casual setting with fellow members of the Eclipse Community. For both developers who are new to Eclipse and experienced members of the community, the Bistro is the gathering where you'll network with colleagues and make new connections.

To make it easier to find out who shares your areas of interest, we'll dedicate each of the Bistro tables to a specific topic. We'll start with short introductions to the Bistro topics by the 'table hosts' and give the rest of the evening over to participants to discuss one-on-one or one-to-many. Light refreshments will be provided.

Here are the initial Bistro topics we've assembled.

  • JDT - Philippe Mulet
  • GMF - Richard Gronback
  • AspectJ - Adrian Colyer
  • Software Comprehension - Mira Mezini
  • Debugging - Bjorn Freeman-Benson
  • RCP - Wayne Beaton

If you'd like to host a Bistro table, please email wayne@eclipse.org. Table hosts are invited to bring posters and laptop demonstrations and presentations as props for your table.

Philippe Mulet will be presenting a short talk on the JDT.

The schedule for the event is as below:

  • 19:00 - 19:30 - Introductions
  • 19:30 - 20:00 - Group discussions
  • 20:00 - 20:20 - JDT talk
  • 20:20 - 21:00 - Group discussions continue

Planning

Below is our current thoughts with regard to a possible floor plan for room 200.

Each of the tables will be assigned a topic (one of those from the list above) and will be hosted by an expert on that topic. The projector and screen at the front of the room will be used to deliver an introduction to the event and will be made available to the table hosts to present their topics. Space for posters will be available either along the walls or on easels positioned around the tables (TBC).
