Presenters

If you would like to present at the DemoCamp, please feel free to add your name and topic to the list. Depending on the number of people interested we may have to limit the number of presenters and time of each demo.

  • Miles Sabin, Chuusai Ltd.. "The Scala IDE for Eclipse: Retrospect and prospect for 2.8.0."

Miles Sabin presents the Scala tooling for Eclipse, it's history, current developments and the roadmap for the next major release and beyond. He also gives some insight into promise and frustrations of monkey-patching support for an alternative JVM language into Eclipse's JDT using AspectJ.

Diamond Light Source is the UK national synchrotron facility. We will demo the Generic Data Acquisition (GDA); originally using a Swing GUI the team at Diamond are working on a replacement using the Eclipse framework. This has led to development of many plugins for performing experiments and analysing results and incorporates the use of third party plugins such as PyDev and Control System Studio. The team aims to release an open source version of the system in November 2009, discussions on collaboration with similar facilities in France, USA and Australia are underway. The demo will also discuss issues about PDE build target development, automated building and testing.

  • Neil Bartlett, WWUK "JavaFX in Eclipse"

Since April, Neil has been working for Sun Microsystems to advance their tooling for JavaFX within Eclipse. In this demo and talk he will show the current progress, preview some up-coming features and discuss the challenges that JavaFX tooling shares with Scala and other JVM-compiling languages.

Kichwa Coders specialize in development of complex software tools for the semiconductor and related industries. We will demo CyanIDE 2 an Eclipse-based IDE. CyanIDE 2 is a CDT based C development environment for Cyan's families of low cost microcontrollers. CyanIDE 2 also features the Configurator, a GEF based graphical editor for configuring the microcontrollers.
