The Eclipse Foundation strongly believes that facilitating networking and face-to-face interactions is key to fostering the Eclipse community. One way to advance this initiative is through regional Eclipse Days. An Eclipse Day is an event that may be focused on a particular geographic region or a particular industry. The Foundation can offer sponsorship money to approved events, however please note that there is a limited budget so funds will be awarded on a "first come, first served" basis.

Note that Eclipse Days are different from the DemoCamp program the Eclipse Foundation runs periodically. DemoCamps are considerably more informal with flexible agendas, that typically last 2 or 3 hours. Eclipse Days have set, published agendas and last a full day.

Here are some guidelines and tips to help you plan an Eclipse Day for your local community or industry.

Eclipse Funding

Criteria for Foundation sponsorship of an Eclipse Day or an Eclipse Summit are:

  • It must be organized by an Eclipse member company
  • It must be a community event open to the public, with preference given to events that have presenters and sponsors from multiple organizations
  • The event must be at least 1 full day
  • The event program must demonstrate significant Eclipse content
  • There must be a public web site for the event that lists the program
  • Attendance must be more than 50 people

The Eclipse Foundation will offer approved events:

  • $2,000 USD
  • A community bulletin on the eclipse.org homepage
  • Listing in the monthly Eclipse Member Newsletter email
  • Listing in the online Community Events calendar
  • Wiki space, if needed, for the event's homepage
