We need to resolve the following questions over the next few weeks, in preparation for the planned 0.7 release in September:
- Where to blog about EGL developer-focused topics (not EDT contributor topics)?
- Where we we expect developers to ask questions? Existing EDT forum?
- How to sign up people to get notified when 0.7 and 1.0 are available? Sign-up form, like we did with CE?
- What kind of new presence is needed for EGL/EDT on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn's EGL Group, and/or Google+?
- What technical videos are needed at launch time?
- What communication channels are available to use by the Eclipse Foundation?
- What types of education / lunch-n-learn types events need to be scheduled? And how do we drive awareness?
- What changes are needed to the EDT project site?
- Who/how should we coordinate discussions with key Eclipse folks prior to launch (to start driving awarness in anticipation of the launch)?

Where to blog about EGL developer-focused topics (not EDT contributor topics)? Leaning towards BlogSpot. Need to update EGL Cafe main page to include feeds from Tim Hahn's blog and EDT blog (first), and linked in forums. Next steps: investigate what it takes to create a blog on BlogSpot and how to access feeds programmatically.
Where we we expect developers to ask questions? Existing EDT forum? Need to separate committer and consumer discussions. Plan: current EDT forum will be used by consumers/users only. Newsgroup/mailing list will be used by committers. In regards to the Cafe: keep separation between CE/RBD/RME and EDT. Redirect EDT questions posted on the EGL FCafe to the EDT Forum (and vice versa). Need to ask Eclipse how we can add "EDT" to the end of the EDT user forum name (like some other forums). How to sign up people to get notified when 0.7 and 1.0 are available? S ign-up form, like we did with CE. Create a simple form (probably Google form) embedded on main EDT page. Ask all existing EGL Cafe members to go register (via EGL Cafe notification and/or blog entry). Send mass email to all CE downloaders and pre-registration'ers informing them of EDT. Could send them to a blog OR send them directly to the EDT page. Post announcements to the LinkedIn group.Theresa to investigate whether we can get the raw list of e-mails, which would allow us to weed out duplicates.
What kind of new presence is needed for EGL/EDT on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn's EGL Group, and/or Google+? At a minimum, we want a Twitter account that people can follow. Need to show feed on the EDT main page (see Xtext as an example).
