some connection somewhere and connection information and you want to create a connection programmatically and you need to be able to trace from the driver definition template up to a connection profile ID

wizard GUIs embed the category ID inside java code - expose via extension point attribute

idea of "transient" connection profiles

more db recognizers - maybe move to an extension point - to do version compare

for the missing profiles issue -- use the debugger. create a connection, close the enablement project, lose your profiles
