Aperi, the next step

• Focus on interoperation of our products • Develop and use components we can each consume/leverage in our products that provide improved usability, capabilities and synergies with our existing products • Define themes we can work on together and that apply to across the Aperi community (so all Aperi companies can participate) • Tie these themes to customer requirements and our products, so we can deliver products to market together, via Aperi components (open source) • Joint marketing and announcements (Aperi community) to highlight interoperability and synergies

Proposed themes for 2008: Launch in context and Single Sign on

A kickoff meeting will be held in January to define project goals, milestones and delivery targets. Please consider your products and how they could participate in these themes. Several Aperi vendors are already working on this project to provide a jump start. Please let Russ know who you would like to have invited to our call in January. This call will give you an overview of how Launch in context and single sign on will be structured and help you identify what you will need to do for your implementations. A product architect would be the appropriate representative for this call.

Future themes can be proposed via our Blog. We will be launching a discussion on proposed themes for our roadmap. Topics including automation and change management are examples of these types of themes.


Planning for Aperi 2008


Proposed Aperi projects for 2008 • SMI-S host profile support • Virtual fabric / FC security specification • Initial WSDM event support • Remove dependency on Java Help • Support for other clusters e.g. Linux HA • Solaris enablement • SAN Simulator R0.2 - add performance and configuration planning

We need a sponsor for every line item: • Agrees to lead line item activity • Agrees to commit resources for development, test and documentation for that item. • Get agreement from any co-participants to do the same

For those that have submitted one of these proposals in, please provide a milestone plan for delivery. In our next marketing call, in January, we will review the community input to define the Aperi R0.5 content and schedule. You can append a comment in the Blog with this information or send to Russ Warren/Tom Guinane at IBM.
